Aloha

So, there has been quite a lot of information coming out of Hawaii. These guys are rebuilding boats, talk about building new boats, actually talk about new ways of building new boats. They seem to be getting some momentum out there and that is very cool.

With such sucess the demand must have been huge for information so they started a blog. You can find it here.

The real question is how are we going to get our boats to Hawaii for Nationals? It might be the first 110 Nationals I would not be in the doghouse for attending.

Good Old New England

It was winter. Then it was summer. Then it was spring. I think we are still in spring. The end result being that it is almost time to dust off the boats and go sailing in Newport again. I am a little off the pace mainly because I was getting my last runs of skiing in one weekend, in shorts, and sailing in Annapolis the next, in shorts. I am very confused. Now I am just waiting for Oakley to tell me when to start showing up to Sail Newport on Friday nights.

There has not been a lot of talk about boat improvements this winter. The good news there is I think people have gotten their rides in decent shape and it's all a matter of tweaks here and there. I think I might start a pool on if Jeff has the same piece of plywood, through-bolts and deck screws holding his boat together he installed at Nationals in Kingston, though. Beyond that we hear that Anna is back in the driver's seat of Wharf Rat. Kevin Farrar? Does he have a boat ready for racing? With all the news of rebuilds from last year we would hope to have a couple more boats on the start line. Time will tell.

I don't think much has happened with the "little big boat" program. US Blues was in Josh's hands while Screaming Pelican wintered in my back yard. I did pull the cover off a couple of weeks before giving her back to Josh and managed to improve a couple of things but I don't think much has happened to the Blues. Here's a taste of some of my winter boredom. What has everyone else been doing behind closed doors?
