Fleet Racing Results

Did we mention that the fleet's summer series was off to a slow start? Here are the results from the only night of racing so far, June 3rd. Jeff reports that those of us who were not there missed a great night. Clearly Jeff felt things were just fine that night.

We look forward to a good night of racing this Friday where we should have good attendance. We should have the results up a bit quicker than this.

Sails Meeting - Part 2

Although the beginning of Fleet 54's season has been slow to warm up, there is a fair amount of action behind the scenes...

The first outing for US Blues was brought to a screaming halt by a mysterious lack of mainsail battens. This past Friday I dropped in to see our new friends at Quantum Newport to replace the missing battens and arrived to find a loft devoted entirely to building 110 sails for a couple of the boats in our fleet. It would have made for a good picture. So, with half the fleet back from Block Island Race Week, Oakley's boat finally making it out of it's refit and sails full of battens, we look forward to a good night this week. We also get to see what the boys at Quantum came up with for go-fast sails.

I did have to laugh that Ross and Oakley's sails were being build on a Friday afternoon. I almost dropped back in with a case of beer to help with quality control.

Friday Night Fleet Racing

So, after a couple weeks of trying we might just get a night of racing in tomorrow. There seemed to be a lack of boats ready on the first week. Last week the weather gave us two options, no wind or too much wind with lightning. (it chose no wind) This week is lining up to be great weather and rumor has it we will be joined by some of our friends from Maine. Looking forward to it.
